How effective is the combination of your media product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak/advertisement)?

I have used the colourful umbrella throughout all of my media texts as it is the symbol of happiness which is part of my artist's brand. The umbrella also links all of my media texts which makes them more consistent.

Perhaps the main link throughout all of my media texts is that it features the artist. This is a common convention of singer-songwriter genre as a lot of the artists of this genre are not flashy, famous artists like pop stars and have a more 'indie', relaxed approach to their music.

For my ancillary texts I used the same font which is Leelawadee UI, as well as the same filers and warm colouring to emphasise the artist's positivity and happiness which are aspects of my artist's brand.

Lastly, another links between the digipak and the music video are the roses and he coffee. All of these objects are used in the music video as well as the digipak. In fact, the roses are also featured in the magazine advertisement. This shows links between all of my media texts, it also makes my media texts more consistent.

I believe my main and ancillary texts were successful as they have clear links  between each other which shows consistency and they conform the the singer-songwriter genre conventions which would make my media attractive to the audience who are interested in this genre.

Comparison to other existing products to illustrate synergy

Compared to Lady Gaga's music video 'Million Reasons' and 'Joanne' album cover she uses the same prop (pink hat) to show links between the music video and the album. Similarly, I used the colourful umbrella throughout all of my media texts to show links and consistency.

Adele used similar filters for her music video 'Hello' and her album '25' to give it a mature and elegant, but almost mysterious look which fits in well with her brand as well as the feeling of the album and the song. Similarly, I used warm colours for my own music video and other ancillary products to emphasise the artist's brand and the message that she is trying to portray which is positivity and making the world happy and a better place to be.

Taylor Swift used artistic shots for the cover of her album '1989' as well as having artistic shots in her music videos such as 'Style'. For my own ancillary products I ained to use artistic shots such as the one in my digipak where she is holdinig the guitar as well as the photo I used for the magazine advert with her standing in front of an old building. Using artistic shots also conforms to the singer-songwriter conventions of creativity and emphasising the singer being an artist.
