Favourite Music Vides

Lana Del Rey - Ride

Release date: September 2012.

Director: Anthony Mandler

In the music video Lana Del Rey is shown taking shelter with different men as well as tryin to find her place in the wrld and performing to people. Lana said in an interview the the music video was ''about the kindness of strangers''.

I would use this music video as an inspiration because it shows people in a different light and that not all people are bad. Furthermore, it shows Lana looking for a place to belong which I believe is relatable since people seek for a place to call home. In my opinin this concept can connect to the audience thus making it powerful.

Coldplay - The Scientist

Release date: November 2002

Director: Jamie Thraves

The music shows the lead singer walking through a city and then a forest and at the end it is revealed that he was involved in a car accident and his love interest is supposedly dead.

The main reason why this is one of my favourite music vidoes is that the whole music video is played backwards which makes the music video both interesting and confusing in a sense that there is disorientation while watching it. This music video inspired me to consider using different techniques and think outside the box.

Childish Gambino - Telegraph Ave.

Release Date: October 2014

Director: Hiro Murai

The music video features the artist Childish Gambino and Jhene Aiko and they seem to be on a holiday in Hawaii driving around and exploring, eating at a local cafe and taking pictures by the beach and they seem to be a happy couple. However, throughout the video the local me keep looking at them with concern and it is revealed at the end that Childish Gambino's character is a monster in side that disguises himself as a man.

This is one of my favourite music videos because it has story and a plot twist at the end which makes the music video interesting thus appealing more to the audience.

Taylor Swift - Wildest Dreams

Release Date: August 2015

Director: Joseph Kahn

The music video feature Taylor Swift and her love interest (played by Scott Eastwood) and it follow a story of two actor falling in love on a 1960's film set in Africa. The relationship seems to be destructive and at the end of the video it is revealed that the male has a fiance (assuming from a diamond ring on her finger) and at the end Taylor's character drives away ending the relationship and the story.

It is one of my favourite music videos because it follows a clear and interesting story line with an unexpected twist at the end. Furthermore, the way the music video is shot is very creative with long bird's eye view shots of the African scenery.

The Weekend - False Alarm

Release Date: October 2016

Director: Ilya Naishuller

The music  video is shot in first person and follows ''you'' taking part in a robber, taking a girl hostage and trying to flee the crime scene. in the end ''you'' get in a car crash and when ''you'' wake up you have a fatal injury and ''you'' give the girl the keys to the handcuffs to help ''you'' but instead she takes the money and runs away. At the end of the video it is revealed that ''you'' were looking through the

eyes of the artist and as the artist looks in the mirror he takes a gun and shoots himself.

Although this is a very violent music video, it is one of my favourites because it has a first person view which makes the music video a lot more interesting. It also follows an interesting story with an unexpected ending.
